ORLANDO, Fla – August 27, 2025 – Avient Corporation, an innovator of materials solutions, will highlight its portfolio of advanced composite materials and engineered fiber solutions at the upcoming Composites and Advanced Materials Expo (CAMX), including the launch of its new Polystrand™ 50-inch-wide Continuous Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic Unidirectional Tape and GridCore™ Composite Utility Poles, September 9–11.
Avient’s new Polystrand™ tape offers a wide-format, fiberglass-reinforced unidirectional composite material to enable enhanced manufacturing efficiency and increased production scalability. It will be available in a variety of resins, including polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG), and amorphous polyethylene terephthalate (aPET). The customizable tapes, manufactured in Englewood, CO, will advance innovative opportunities for thermoplastic composites in existing and developing markets.
Avient will also showcase its new GridCore™ Composite Utility Poles, engineered to enhance electrical grid resilience as an alternative to traditional wood, steel, or concrete poles. Compared to poles made from these traditional materials, GridCore fiberglass-reinforced thermoset poles are lighter weight, enabling ease of installation. They are also more durable compared to wood poles, requiring less maintenance and offering pest resistance. These advantages can provide a lower total system and lifecycle cost compared to other materials. The addition of GridCore poles expands Avient’s market-leading portfolio of pultruded composite materials for the electrical transmission and distribution market. Its Glasforms™ pultrusions for insulators, arresters, cross arms, and GridCore utility poles are manufactured in Birmingham, AL.
The Avient exhibit will also feature the following composite technologies:
Thermoplastic Composites:
Thermoset Composites:
Engineered Fiber Solutions:
Avient is committed to helping customers meet sustainability goals through its advanced composites portfolio. Composites are inherently lightweight alternatives to metal and other materials, enabling sustainability initiatives such as material reduction and fuel economy improvements in many end products.
Avient is exhibiting at the Composites and Advanced Materials Expo – CAMX, the largest, most comprehensive composites and advanced materials event in North America, September 9–11, 2025, in Booth J23 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
